IFRA Brand Guidelines 2.0
A modernized, sophisticated framework for the International Fragrance Association. These guidelines dictate the visual expression of our global, science-backed, and forward-thinking organization.
1. Brand Foundation
Our visual identity is the outer reflection of our inner purpose. Every piece of communication should be anchored in our core strategic pillars.
- Our Purpose: We are the global platform for the fragrance industry, driving the responsible, sustainable, and safe use of fragrances while enhancing consumer well-being and preserving the rich diversity of ingredients across regions and cultures.
- Our Vision: To advance a responsible and innovative fragrance industry that upholds safety, sustainability, and consumer trust, ensuring resilience through innovation, collaboration, and a balanced regulatory environment.
- Our Mission: We lead a global stewardship program, advocate for science-based policies, and drive collaboration to ensure a responsible, sustainable, and innovative fragrance industry.
Through close engagement with policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders, we advance safety, support proportionate regulations, and create the conditions for creativity and resilience. With expertise and strong partnerships, we enable the industry to deliver sustainable and innovative fragrances.
2. The Logo System
About the IFRA icon
The trademarked classic IFRA icon consists of a 270° circular device encapsulating the acronym "ifra" in lowercase — a trademarked device.
The new IFRA icon features a 360° coloured circle encapsulating the classic icon. The circling colours highlight the global nature of the association, the sustainability of fragrance supply chains, and the sector's commitment to safe use of fragrance.

Handling colour backgrounds and small uses
The IFRA icon comes in colour, black and white versions as well as a thick version for uses in small situations where its narrow frame impedes visibility.
The rule of thumb for the standard logo:
- Colour or black logo on White, Alabaster, or Pastel backgrounds only.
- Colour or white logo on grey or black backgrounds only.
- White logo on dark photography or dark accent colours.
- Black logo on light photography or pale accent colours.
Never place the multicoloured logo on a Core Six solid background — the matching segment of the outer ring will disappear into the background. Use the Pastel variants of those colours instead (see Color System).
The thick-stroke variant is reserved for places where the standard narrow ring would lose visibility — favicons, sub-16-px social icons, embossing, embroidery, woven labels, and any small-format physical application. Reach for it only when the standard logo genuinely doesn't read; on screen at typical sizes the standard version is correct.
Thick · Colour
Light backgrounds
Favicons, social avatars at small sizes, light-coloured embossing.
Thick · Black
Light backgrounds, monochrome
Single-colour print, debossing, laser-etching, dark-on-light merch.
Thick · White
Dark backgrounds
White-on-dark merch, embroidery on navy / black fabric.
Clear space & integrity: Maintain a minimum margin around the logo equal to the radius of the outer coloured circle. Never stretch, distort, or recolour the logo.

A downloadable assets card on the IFRA Hub landing page is on the roadmap.
3. The Color System
Our color palette is purposeful. We rely on crisp backgrounds, restricted dark tones, and vibrant Core Six colors acting as dynamic or regional accents.

4. Typography
To reflect IFRA's position as a modern, authoritative global body, we utilize a highly legible, contemporary type system.
Primary Display: Playfair Display
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Use for: Headlines, title slides, and major callouts. A transitional serif that brings editorial elegance.
Primary Sans: Inter
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Use for: Body copy, sub-headlines, digital UI, and data visualization. Clean, scientific, and highly legible.
5. Visual Language & Imagery
- The Sphere: Reflects global work, sustainability, and a holistic commitment to safety. Use subtle circular framing or spherical gradients.
- Horizontal Bars: Representing horizontal work and symbolic of perfumery touch papers. Use as sleek dividers or to underline key headers.
- Photography: Focuses on the interplay of people, places, and scented items. Avoid sterile chemical stock photos; aim for warmth, lifestyle integration, and natural ingredient sourcing.
6. Application Examples
Title Slide: Use Midnight Navy (#0B1D3A) as the background color, paired with the White Logo to ensure maximum contrast. Text should be white Playfair Display.
Content Slide: Use Alabaster (#F9F9F6) or one of the Pastel backgrounds. This allows you to safely use the Multicolored Logo without losing segments of the outer ring. Use Black for the body text in the Inter font.
